Sinmi Jay is a Lagos-based musician, songwriter, and creative entrepreneur. He is the founder and lead vocalist of Sinmi Jay & Gbadunsquad. Sinmi Jay has been at the forefront of the Afrobeat, Juju, Highlife, and Indie Pop music scene in Nigeria since 2017.

He is a self-taught musician born into a family where music was a way of life. He is the third of four children. He grew up listening to old Christian music, with his father influence as a deacon. His mother would play Nigerian music legends, like Ebenezer Obey, Sunny Ade, Orlando Owoh, and Fela Kuti as well as international icons like Michael Jackson. He also drew inspiration from contemporary Nigerian music, including Tuface, Sound Sultan, Asa, Style Plus, etc. With a passion for music that burns deep within him, Sinmi Jay & Gbadunsquad's sound can be imagined as “testing the depth of the river that linked the past and the future of Afro sound with your whole body”. Paying homage to the rich musical heritage of Nigeria and pushing the boundaries of contemporary African music.

Gbadunsquad is a Lagos-based band founded by Sinmi Jay in 2017.
